Swam through the skincare chaos looking for recs for sensitive skin. Did I fall into the rabbit hole? Absolutely. But do I regret it? Nope.
Thing is, skincare’s become too much of a cash grab now. Was going through my 5 step routine and thinking dude do I even need all this stuff? Someone’s out there getting rich cos I have no critical thought and make too many impulsive decisions. So obviously decided to do some research and figured out that it all depends on your skin type and moisturisation, figured out some reccs too btw. Linking them with a review in case anyone needs it.
(not bashing anyone who has more products btw, I just have normal skin so there was no fkn reason for me to be creating a 5 step routine)
Here’s what I learned along the way:
- If your skin’s on the dry side, skip the lotion. Creams or ointments are your best bet- they acc lock in moisture instead of vanishing five minutes later. Especially in winter, you’ll feel the difference.
- If you have oily skin you might not even need a moisturizer tbh.Too much can clog things up fast. If you do use one, stick to a lightweight gel and keep it simple.
- For combo skin, think of it as managing two different zones. Moisturize the dry bits, leave the oily T-zone alone. People out here moisturizing their nose for no reason.
Now gonna give a quick rundown of the two moisturisers that are the most promising:
Moisturiser | Skin Type | Pros? | Cons? |
---|---|---|---|
Obagi’s moisturizer | Dry, sensitive, aging | -Thick and rich, not greasy -Doesn’t clog pores - Hydrating enough for cold weather | -It’s scented, so if you’re hypersensitive, stick to medicated stuff |
Elemis cream | Most skin types (esp dry) | -Rich but breakout-safe -Gentle enough for sensitive, acne-prone skin- Absorbs quickly, no trendy actives | -Pricey (like this is not the type you slather on, gotta be a bit frugal with it) |
If you’re stuck in the skincare spiral too, hopefully this clears things up a bit.
